Teacher’s Dark Secret: Ex-UC High Educator Pleads Guilty to Luring Minor

Sean Stevenson, a 58-year-old former high school science teacher at University City High School, has pleaded guilty to attempting to entice a 16-year-old minor for commercial sex.

Stevenson was arrested in October 2023 after he arrived at a pre-arranged meeting location, believing he was about to engage in a sexual encounter with the underage girl. However, he was unaware that he was communicating online with an undercover agent.

According to court documents, Stevenson used a voice-over-internet protocol (VOIP) line to negotiate with a woman he believed was a 16-year-old girl, identified as ‘Kash.’ He offered her a fee to find a female under the age of 18 for him, and even specified that the younger the girl, the better.

When Kash suggested an 18-year-old girl, Stevenson replied, ‘Not young enough.’ He continued to exchange messages with the undercover officer, negotiating $150 for oral copulation without a condom and $100 for manual genital stimulation.

Stevenson was stopped by law enforcement officials and placed under arrest at the pre-arranged meeting location. During the arrest, $140 was located in the driver’s side door storage area of his Mazda Miata.

‘Instead of a protector, this teacher became a predator,’ said U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath. ‘These despicable acts betray the trust of students, parents, and the entire community.’

Stevenson is scheduled to be sentenced on September 5, 2024, at 9 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Battaglia. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence.
