Albany Man Sentenced to 2 Years for Defrauding Concert Promoters

Oakland, CA – Quincy Krashna, a 50-year-old man from Albany, California, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for defrauding European concert promoters out of $450,000.

Krashna, who pleaded guilty on March 6, 2018, admitted to misrepresenting his connections to the Red Hot Chili Peppers in order to secure a deal with the concert promoters.

The victims were interested in promoting Red Hot Chili Peppers concerts in Eastern Europe, but Krashna lied to them about having the connections to make it happen. He also created a fake escrow agreement that made it seem like the money was being held in a secure account, when in fact it was just a personal bank account that he controlled.

Krashna continued to deceive the concert promoters, telling them that their money was still in the escrow account until March 2012. A federal grand jury indicted him on January 12, 2017, and he was charged with seven counts of wire fraud.

As part of his plea agreement, Krashna pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and the remaining counts were dismissed. In addition to his prison sentence, Krashna was ordered to pay $450,000 in restitution to the concert promoters and serve a three-year term of supervised release after his prison term is complete.

Krashna will begin serving his 24-month sentence on November 6, 2018. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tom Green and Michelle Kane, with the assistance of Noble Hughes and Katie Turner. The investigation was led by the FBI.
