Warren H. Thompson, Bank Account Conspiracy, Pennsylvania 2024

A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to 12 months plus one day term of imprisonment for his role in a bank account conspiracy.

Warren H. Thompson, 31, of the South Side of Pittsburgh, was sentenced by United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak yesterday for conspiring with others to steal bank account information belonging to account holders at Citizens Bank in Pittsburgh.

According to the information presented to the court, Thompson and his co-conspirators used the stolen information to create accounts at another bank into which they deposited the stolen funds. From these accounts, they made multiple withdrawals of the stolen cash.

Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Western Pennsylvania Financial Crimes Task Force (WPFCTF) for conducting the investigation that led to the successful prosecution of Thompson.

The WPFCTF was established as a collaborative, multi-agency effort to effectively combat financial crimes, including identity fraud, in Western Pennsylvania.

The task force is comprised of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Secret Service, the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, the Allegheny County Police Department, the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
