Eric Brandon Wright, a 43-year-old man from Lakeside, Montana, stole over $180,000 worth of construction equipment from RDO Rental Equipment in Kalispell, Montana, on the night of August 23, 2023. Wright, who pleaded guilty to one count of interstate transportation of stolen property, made off with various pieces of digging and mulching equipment, along with a Towmaster trailer, which he then sold in Idaho.
Wright’s crime was discovered after law enforcement received a tip that he was selling construction equipment on Facebook, which they tracked to a storage facility in Lewiston, Idaho. Detectives linked Wright’s truck to the scene of the crime using cell phone data and surveillance video, and officers later found the stolen Towmaster trailer at the residence of Wright’s uncle in Dalton Gardens, Idaho.
Wright’s sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, includes three years and five months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the Kalispell Police Department and the FBI.
