Jddarrian Christopher Irons, Illegal Firearm, Florida 2023

Fort Myers, Florida – In a chilling tale of law enforcement’s relentless pursuit of justice, Jddarrian Christopher Irons (33, Fort Myers) has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for the illegal possession of a loaded firearm. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell.

On October 5, 2023, Fort Myers Police Department officers stopped Irons during a traffic stop. What followed was a revelation: Irons initially provided a false name and date of birth to the officers. A thorough search revealed a Smith and Wesson handgun, fully loaded, concealed in a fanny pack between the front seat Irons had occupied and the door.

Irons, a multi-time convicted felon who had recently served a seven-year state prison sentence, was under federal law prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. His actions were not just illegal—they were dangerous, threatening the safety of communities in Fort Myers.

This case has been a collaborative effort between the Fort Myers Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney Simon Eth prosecuted the case with unwavering determination.

The Irons case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that unites all levels of law enforcement to combat violent crime and gun violence. Launched on May 26, 2021, PSN aims to strengthen trust in communities, support organizations that prevent violence, set strategic enforcement priorities, and measure results to make neighborhoods safer.

As the judicial system delivers justice to those who flout the law, it serves as a stark reminder of the consequences for illegal firearm possession. Jddarrian Christopher Irons will now serve time behind bars, and his firearm and ammunition have been forfeited, ensuring they cannot pose a threat to anyone else.
