Corey Stewart Eaves, 35, Sentenced to 77 Months for Felon in Possession
FORT WAYNE, IN – In a shocking turn of events, Corey Stewart Eaves, a 35-year-old Fort Wayne resident, has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentence was handed down by District Court Judge Theresa L. Springmann.
According to documents filed in the case, the Fort Wayne Police Department was called to a home in Fort Wayne on July 12, 2015, in response to a domestic disturbance. During the investigation, police discovered multiple firearms and ammunition in the possession of Eaves.
Due to Eaves’ prior felony convictions, the case was turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The agency launched a federal investigation and charged Eaves with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Eaves was sentenced to 77 months in prison, followed by 1 year of supervised release. The investigation was conducted by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with the assistance of the Fort Wayne Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris-King prosecuted the case. The sentencing marks a significant blow to Eaves and serves as a warning to others who may be tempted to break the law.
