Corinth Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Pornography
Bangor, Maine – In a shocking revelation, David Livingston Brown, 40, of Corinth, Maine, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, a federal crime that carries severe penalties.
According to court records, in April 2013, Brown emailed a video containing child pornography to an undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agent. This brazen act marked the beginning of a lengthy investigation that would ultimately lead to his downfall.
On July 18, 2013, a search warrant was executed at Brown’s residence in Corinth, where he was found to have admitted sending and receiving images of child pornography by email. Further investigation revealed that he had been collecting hundreds of images and videos of child pornography over several years.
A forensic examination of computers and computer storage devices seized from the residence revealed a staggering array of child pornography, with hundreds of images and videos uncovered.
Brown now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation was a joint effort between the FBI and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
