Jolienne Salinas, Meth Smuggling, Texas 2024

A 38-year-old corrections officer has been arrested on charges of attempting to bring methamphetamine to an inmate with whom she had a secret sexual relationship, Grimy Times has learned.

Jolienne Salinas, a correctional officer at FCI Three Rivers in Corpus Christi, was taken into custody yesterday and is set to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason B. Libby at 10:15 a.m. tomorrow. According to the indictment, Salinas allegedly provided or attempted to provide meth to the inmate in early May 2020.

The alleged relationship between Salinas and the inmate began in September 2019 and continued until May 2020. The indictment alleges that Salinas engaged in a sexual relationship with the inmate, which is a serious breach of her duty as a correctional officer.

Salinas faces up to 20 years in prison for providing narcotics for an inmate, while the sexual relations charge carries a possible 15-year term of imprisonment. She also faces a $250,000 possible fine on each count of conviction.

The investigation was conducted by the Department of Justice-Office of the Inspector General, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara J. De Pena is prosecuting the case.

An indictment is a formal accusation of criminal conduct, not evidence. A defendant is presumed innocent unless convicted through due process of law.

FCI Three Rivers is a medium security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp. The prison is located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
