Couple Charged in Marriage Fraud Scheme

A Pittsburgh-area couple has been indicted on charges of conspiring to commit offenses against the United States in a marriage fraud scheme.

Man Ho, 32, and Le Thuy Nguyen, also known as Kim Nguyen, 48, of Forest Hills, were named in the five-count Superseding Indictment. The indictment alleges that Ho and Nguyen made false statements in matters relating to naturalization or citizenship and unlawfully attempted to obtain naturalization or citizenship.

According to the indictment, Ho and Nguyen conspired to commit offenses against the United States. Ho is charged with unlawfully attempting to obtain naturalization or citizenship, while Nguyen is charged with unlawfully procuring naturalization or citizenship.

The couple faces a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both, at Counts Two and Four. At Counts One, Three, and Five, the maximum total sentence is 5 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.

Assistant United States Attorneys Cindy K. Chung and Yvonne M. Saadi are prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. Homeland Security Investigations and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services conducted the investigation leading to the Superseding Indictment.
