The US Attorney’s Office in Houston, Texas has issued a COVID-19 service notice due to public health and safety concerns.
As a temporary measure, service on the US Attorney shall be made via both email and US mail as follows: a copy of any filing requesting relief affecting a lien or claim of the United States shall be emailed to usatxs.bankruptcy@usdoj.gov. A paper copy shall also be mailed to the Civil Process Clerk, United States Attorney’s Office, 1000 Louisiana, Suite 2300, Houston, TX 77002. Hand delivery may not be accepted.
E-mail delivery will not be deemed complete until receipt is acknowledged by e-mail from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. This emergency accommodation will expire when the U.S. Bankruptcy Court lifts its public health and safety protocols.
According to the notice, Ryan K. Patrick, United States Attorney, stated that the service expansion is necessary due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
The notice affects all bankruptcy filings requesting relief affecting a lien or claim of the United States.
It is unclear when the service notice will expire, but it is expected to cease once the U.S. Bankruptcy Court lifts its public health and safety protocols.
The US Attorney’s Office in Houston, Texas has urged all parties to adhere to the new service notice to avoid any delays or complications.
