A brazen bank robbery shook the streets of Pompano Beach, Florida, on February 3, 2015, when a white male, later identified as Craig Joseph Naughtin, 43, walked into the Wells Fargo Bank and handed a teller a demand note stating ‘give me all the money in your drawer.’
According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Naughtin entered the bank, approached the victim bank teller, and handed her the note. The teller, in fear for her safety, handed Naughtin a stack of money, and he fled the bank.
The bank robbery was recorded on Wells Fargo Bank’s video surveillance cameras, and Naughtin was later identified as the perpetrator. During a search incident to his arrest, law enforcement officers found $3,561.00 on Naughtin, as well as the demand note.
Naughtin was arrested by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the FBI in connection with the bank robbery. He made his initial appearance in court this morning.
U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer commended the investigative efforts of the FBI, BSO, and the South Florida Violent Crimes Task Force for their work on this case. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Katz.
A complaint is only an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The defendant, Craig Joseph Naughtin, is charged with bank robbery. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
