Creighton Narc: Calvin Wright Sentenced to 15 Years for Meth Distribution

Nebraska’s Calvin Wright, 33, of Creighton, was handed a 15-year federal prison sentence on May 7, 2024, for his role in planning the distribution of methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand during hearings held in Sioux City.

Wright’s criminal history includes a prior conviction for possession with intent to distribute meth in 2016. This time, law enforcement officials intercepted Wright on July 5, 2023, when they discovered nearly 95 grams of pure meth, scales, and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle during a routine stop in Sioux City, Iowa.

The sentencing followed a guilty plea by Wright on January 24, 2024. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood, with the investigation led by the Tri-State Drug Task Force. The task force includes personnel from various federal and local law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, Sioux City PD, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Following his conviction, Wright must also serve a term of ten years supervised release upon his release from prison. There is no parole available in the federal system, and Wright remains in the custody of the United States Marshal until transportation to a federal correctional facility can be arranged.

The Tri-State Drug Task Force’s efforts in this case were a collaborative effort between numerous agencies, including the Iowa National Guard, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, United States Marshals Service, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and Woodbury County Attorney’s Office. The court file number for this case is 23-4052.
