On March 9, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the filing of federal charges against Cristobal Villalobos, a resident of California. The 34-year-old defendant was indicted in the Central District of California for alleged involvement in a violent crime.
Cristobal Villalobos was accused of participating in a brutal gang-related assault on a rival gang member. According to court documents, the assault took place in the city of Los Angeles on May 15, 2020. The victim suffered severe injuries, including a fractured skull and a punctured lung.
Villalobos was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit violent crime in aid of racketeering, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1959(a)(5), and one count of violent crime in aid of racketeering, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1959(a)(1).
On November 16, 2022, Cristobal Villalobos pleaded guilty to the charges against him. Following his guilty plea, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge John F. Walter. Villalobos was also ordered to pay a $100,000 fine and to serve three years of supervised release following his release from prison.
