Clifford Heniser, Federal Firearms Violation, Texas 2025

BEAUMONT, Texas — Clifford Heniser, a 35-year-old Crockett felon, has pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Heniser’s arrest stems from an incident on March 15, 2025, when he entered the Houston County Sheriff’s Office under the guise of requesting federal reports. After a dispatcher asked him to wait for a deputy, Heniser became angry and left, only to return moments later with a firearm in hand. He fired the weapon in the parking lot before being disarmed by law enforcement.

Two firearms were seized from Heniser, who was subsequently charged with illegal possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. According to court documents, Heniser is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms due to his criminal record.

The incident triggered a federal investigation led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies including the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Crockett Police Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety – Criminal Investigations.

Heniser was indicted on April 2, 2025, and now faces up to 15 years in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing hearing is scheduled after a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative that leverages Department of Justice resources to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities from violent crime. Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald S. Carter is prosecuting this case.
