A federal grand jury in South Dakota has handed down a indictment against Dace Lunderman, a 32-year-old Parmelee man accused of committing a heinous assault.
According to court documents, Lunderman allegedly attacked two individuals with a knife on January 6, 2017. One of the victims suffered serious bodily injury as a result of the assault.
The maximum penalty for each charge is up to 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $200 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
Lunderman was released on bond pending trial and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. His trial date has not been set.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson is prosecuting the case and the investigation is being conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.
Lunderman’s indictment is a serious charge and should serve as a warning to anyone who would commit similar crimes in the state of South Dakota.
