Cameron Andrew Garcia, Child Pornography, Texas 2020

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Cameron Andrew Garcia, 30, of Dallas, Texas, has been handed a 14-year sentence for receipt of child pornography, along with 10 years supervised release and $5,000 in victim restitution. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.

The grim details of Garcia’s crime emerged from court documents showing an online predatory behavior that spanned several years. In 2014-2015, Garcia engaged in a dangerous online relationship with a minor from Butte County, California, coercing the child into sending sexually explicit content. He then moved to Instagram in 2020 to threaten and extort further images and videos from the same victim, demanding money.

Garcia did not stop there. He also targeted a second young victim, again known to be under age sixteen, using the internet to solicit and receive multiple videos of the child engaged in sexually explicit conduct. His threats against both victims included publicizing explicit content unless they provided more material.

Investigating these chilling acts was the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina McCall leading the prosecution.

This case is a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of child exploitation and abuse, which Project Safe Childhood aims to combat. Launched by the Department of Justice in 2006, this initiative coordinates federal, state, and local efforts to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who exploit children online.
