Edgar Fallad-Martinez, Methamphetamine Distribution, Texas 2024

DALLAS – Edgar Fallad-Martinez, 29, of Dallas, is headed for a long stretch behind bars after receiving a 168-month federal prison sentence for his role in a sprawling methamphetamine distribution network. Chief U.S. District Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn handed down the sentence today, marking a significant blow to a drug operation that saturated parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Fallad-Martinez pleaded guilty in August 2016 to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, admitting his involvement in a conspiracy to move at least 500 grams of methamphetamine. He was one of nineteen individuals initially indicted in a twelve-count case, outlining a sophisticated operation built on supplying the region with a highly addictive and destructive drug.

The scope of the conspiracy was considerable. Prosecutors detailed how Fallad-Martinez and his co-defendants worked to distribute significant quantities of methamphetamine throughout Pleasant Grove, Seagoville, and Balch Springs. To date, thirteen of the eighteen co-defendants have been sentenced, with the remaining five facing judgment in early June. Three defendants still await sentencing on related charges.

The investigation, launched in early January 2016, uncovered a massive cache of illicit materials. Law enforcement seized over 6,700 grams of methamphetamine, roughly 13.2 kilograms of methamphetamine oil, along with 62 grams of marijuana, 2.5 grams of heroin, and 20 ml of gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB). The haul didn’t stop there – authorities also recovered twelve firearms and $12,379 in cash, demonstrating the financial muscle behind the operation.

This wasn’t a small-time operation. The sheer volume of drugs and weapons seized paints a picture of a well-organized criminal enterprise. The Department of Public Safety and the Dallas Police Department worked tirelessly to dismantle the network, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Wirmani successfully prosecuted the case, ensuring Fallad-Martinez and his associates face justice.

While Fallad-Martinez’s 14-year sentence is a win for law enforcement, it’s a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in North Texas. The Grimy Times will continue to track the remaining sentences in this case and report on the ongoing efforts to combat the flow of dangerous drugs into our communities.
