Daniel Augustine Solis, Child Sexual Abuse Material Production and Distribution, Washington 2024

A Michigan man has been sentenced to decades in prison for producing and distributing child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.

Daniel Augustine Solis, 33, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing and distributing child sexual abuse material, as part of a text conversation with his co-defendant.

According to court documents, Solis was abusive and manipulative, and in 2019, he lived with his girlfriend in Eastern Washington. He monitored her actions through social media and phone applications, and eventually moved to Michigan.

When Solis learned that his girlfriend told her mother he had access to the family cell phone plan, he became angry and threatened to report her to police unless she created more explicit videos involving a minor child. Solis gave her specific instructions on the content and length of the videos.

After the creation of the videos, Solis sent the explicit content to his girlfriend’s coworkers and friends, using her phone account.

Acting U.S. Attorney Richard R. Barker stated, ‘Daniel Solis committed acts of unimaginable cruelty and exploitation. His manipulation and abuse caused profound harm, and today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of those crimes.’

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The case was investigated by the FBI, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, and Kalamazoo Township Police Department.

Solis was sentenced by United States District Judge Thomas O. Rice, who also imposed a lifetime of supervised release and restitution of $615.

This case highlights the importance of holding predators accountable for their crimes and protecting our most vulnerable communities – our children.
