A Bronx man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for enticing a minor and possessing child pornography.
Daniel Batista, 57, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, was sentenced on July 9, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman.
Batista previously pled guilty to the charges on July 9, 2025, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave.
According to the allegations, in February 2024, Batista’s probation officers discovered more than a dozen deleted videos and images of child pornography on his cellphone.
The images depicted a particular prepubescent victim, identified as Minor Victim-1, and further investigation revealed that Batista had paid the mother of Minor Victim-1 over $1,000 to produce child pornography of Minor Victim-1 and send it to him.
Batista also sent two images of child pornography depicting Minor Victim-1 to another parent to try to persuade that parent to produce child pornography of that parent’s children.
In addition to the prison term, Batista was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, praised the outstanding investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The case is being handled by the Office’s General Crimes Unit, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Rosenberg in charge of the prosecution.
