Guam Men Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

In a significant blow to Guam’s illicit drug trade, two men, Daniel Cruz Stone and Daniel Manglona Cruz, were sentenced in the District Court of Guam for their involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

According to U.S. Attorney Alicia A.G. Limtiaco, the duo was responsible for distributing over 50 grams of the highly addictive substance. Cruz, Stone’s uncle, pled guilty to an Information charging Conspiracy to Distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Cruz was sentenced to 87 months in prison and five years supervised release. Stone, on the other hand, received 70 months in prison, five years supervised release, and a fine of $12,500. He was also ordered to participate in a substance abuse program.

The investigation into the crime, which began on August 9, 2011, involved the seizure of a package addressed to Cruz containing 212 grams of ice. Cruz was detained and admitted to owning the package. He subsequently contacted his nephew, Stone, who was selling ice for him.

Stone was arrested at the Agana Shopping Mall after Cruz called him. The credit for the investigation goes to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Postal Service Inspectors, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Task Force Agents from the Superior Court of Guam’s Probation Office assigned to the DEA, and the Guam Police Department.

The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Clyde Lemons. Both defendants are awaiting a designation from the Bureau of Prisons.

The sentencing of Daniel Cruz Stone and Daniel Manglona Cruz serves as a reminder of the severe consequences faced by those involved in the illicit drug trade. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these organizations, bringing justice to those affected by their actions.
