A Johnstown man has been charged with distributing heroin in the city, authorities announced on Wednesday.
According to a federal indictment, Daniel Culmer, 49, of Johnstown, distributed less than 100 grams of heroin on June 7 and June 8, 2016.
The indictment, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, charges Culmer with violating federal narcotics laws.
Culmer is facing a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a fine of $2,000,000 or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and any prior criminal history, according to the law.
The Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Cambria County Drug Task Force, conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Culmer.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
An indictment is an accusation. Culmer is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
