Two Rapid City men have been sentenced for their roles in a firearm trafficking ring.
Daniel Joseph Newingham, 42, was sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release following his conviction for illegally possessing and selling a firearm.
According to court documents, Newingham stole and possessed a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver, despite being prohibited from doing so.
Newingham was also ordered to pay a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Joseph Huddleston, 43, was sentenced to 16 months of imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release for his role in possessing and selling the stolen firearm.
Huddleston was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The investigation into the firearm trafficking ring was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Rapid City Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ben Patterson prosecuted the case, resulting in the convictions of both defendants.
