Greenville Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Firearm Charge
NEW BERN, NC – A Greenville man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a firearm charge.
Daniel Lee Wade, Jr., 24, was sentenced by United States District Judge Louise W. Flanagan to 120 months of imprisonment followed by 3 years of supervised release.
Wade was named in an Indictment filed on December 20, 2017, and pleaded guilty to one-count of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Felon on March 12, 2018.
The charges stem from a July 16, 2017, incident in which Wade began shooting at a vehicle driven by two females who were trying to leave his apartment building in Greenville. The passenger was hit by a bullet and sustained a gunshot wound to the right hip area.
Wade was taken into custody on July 20, 2017, after a firearm was found in the glove box of a vehicle he was riding in. Ballistic testing determined that the firearm matched the casings recovered from the shooting.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina has implemented the Take Back North Carolina Initiative as part of PSN.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and the Greenville Police Department Gun Violence Reduction Unit conducted the criminal investigation of this case.
