Macy Man Sentenced to 48 Months for Voluntary Manslaughter
A shocking case of family violence has come to a close in Nebraska, with 23-year-old Daniel Webster, III, being sentenced to 48 months of imprisonment for his role in the death of his brother.
According to reports, the tragic event unfolded on August 28, 2014, at an abandoned house on the Omaha Indian Reservation. Webster was among a group of individuals, including several minors, who had gathered at the location. The adults present had been drinking throughout the afternoon and early evening, setting the stage for a volatile and deadly confrontation.
Webster’s brother became increasingly agitated towards his girlfriend, prompting the defendant to intervene. However, a physical altercation soon ensued, and Webster stabbed his brother in the neck with a paring knife. The victim was unarmed at the time of the attack.
The victim attempted to leave the residence but collapsed on the front porch, where he later succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy revealed that Webster’s knife had severed his brother’s carotid artery and punctured the trachea.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. On the heels of the sentencing, Webster will serve 48 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.
