Danny Neal Stokes, Crystal Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Kentucky 2017

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Three men, part of a conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine, have been found guilty.

Danny Neal Stokes, 62, of Russellville, pleaded guilty in United States District Court to conspiring with others to possess with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. The charges stem from a 2015 investigation in Simpson County, Kentucky.

According to court documents, Stokes conspired with Howell Dean O’Bryan and Jordan Dale Wallace, among others, to knowingly and intentionally possess with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. Laboratory analysis revealed that the actual amount of methamphetamine seized during the investigation was 459.3 grams (approximately one and a half pounds) and 162.5 grams (approximately six ounces).

On May 15, 2015, O’Bryan knowingly and intentionally possessed with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, which he received from Stokes. Wallace was arrested that day on his way to pay for the methamphetamine as part of the conspiracy. On July 25, 2015, Stokes was found to be in possession of 162.5 grams of pure methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Law enforcement officials discovered the methamphetamine in a bag with $184,597.00 in United States currency. Wallace previously pled guilty to his role in the conspiracy on March 20, 2017, and O’Bryan on July 21, 2016. All three defendants remain in federal custody pending sentencing.

Assistant United States Attorney Jo E. Lawless is prosecuting the case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Kentucky State Police, including its Vehicle Enforcement Division, conducted the investigation.

According to their Plea Agreements, at the time of their sentencing hearings, the United States will recommend a sentence of 15 years in prison followed by a five-year period of Supervised Release for both O’Bryan and Stokes and 10 years in prison followed by a five-year term of Supervised Release for Wallace.
