Johnny Boone, Marijuana Possession, Kentucky 2008

A former Marion County, Kentucky resident has been charged with manufacturing more than 1,000 marijuana plants and possession with intent to distribute 50 kilograms (110 pounds) or more of marijuana.
According to a two-count federal grand jury indictment, John Robert Boone, also known as Johnny Boone, was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service after being deported from Montreal, Canada.
Boone, now 76, was indicted on October 7, 2008, on two charges: knowingly and intentionally manufacturing and possessing with the intent to manufacture and distribute 1,000 or more marijuana plants, a controlled substance; and knowingly and intentionally possessing with the intent to distribute 50 kilograms or more of marijuana, a controlled substance.
On or about May 27, 2008, Boone allegedly manufactured and possessed with the intent to manufacture and distribute more than 1,000 marijuana plants, a controlled substance. He is also accused of possessing with the intent to distribute 50 kilograms or more of marijuana, a controlled substance.
If convicted at trial, Boone potentially faces a mandatory, minimum sentence of 20 years in prison, depending on his criminal history. He could also be fined up to $10,000,000 and be required to serve no less than 5 years of supervised release.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress.
The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
