Danny Ray VanZandt, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Idaho 2024

BOISE, Idaho – Danny Ray VanZandt, 40, of Boise, found himself behind bars for a whopping 25 years after being sentenced for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed that a federal grand jury had indicted VanZandt on May 15, 2018, marking the beginning of his downfall.

Investigations uncovered that law enforcement had used a confidential informant to purchase methamphetamine from VanZandt on two separate occasions, ultimately leading to his arrest. During the arrest, officers found 70 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun in his truck.

VanZandt’s lengthy criminal history spans 20 years and includes two prior controlled substance offenses and numerous parole violations.

This case was thoroughly investigated by the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crimes Task Force, comprising federal, state, and local agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Boise Police Department; Ada County Sheriff’s Office; Caldwell Police Department; Nampa Police Department; Meridian Police Department; Canyon County Sheriff’s Office; and Idaho Department of Probation and Parole.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime by bringing together law enforcement and the communities they serve.
