SCRANTON, PA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania dropped a bombshell today, revealing that Danny Sing, 59, a Philadelphia man, has pleaded guilty to a massive tax fraud and commercial bribery scheme. Sing, who was before U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion, is accused of conspiring with other individuals to siphon off millions from the IRS through fraudulent means.
According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Sing was a principal in Global Staffing Services, Inc., a temporary staffing company that he and his coconspirators operated. They are alleged to have evaded federal income taxes on approximately $1,600,000 in personal wages. Sing failed to report over $8,800,000 in wages paid to employees and did not remit nearly $1.4 million in federal employment taxes.
But that’s not all. Sing is also accused of paying over $400,000 in bribes to managers at a client company for Global Staffing’s benefit. The alleged criminal activities spanned from 2013 to 2020.
Joining Sing in this sordid tale are four other individuals:
- Den Lam, 48, of Philadelphia, who stands charged with conspiracy to evade federal income taxes and failing to remit employment taxes.
- Mark Holmes, 66, of Hughes Springs, Texas, pleaded guilty to failing to remit employment taxes from Encore Staffing Solutions LLC and accepting bribes in his capacity as General Manager at a Pennsylvania food services company.
- Nari Lam, 29, of Wilmington, Delaware, owner of temporary staffing firm Penns Independent Staffing, is accused of failing to remit employment taxes.
- Madeline Nieves, 48, of Plains, Pennsylvania, faces charges including tax fraud and conspiracy in relation to Encore Staffing.
The Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation unit led the probe into this financial misdeeds. Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip J. Caraballo is handling the prosecution of these cases. Under federal law, Sing could face up to five years in prison for his tax offense.
