Daquante Thomas Sentenced to 35 Years for Murder-For-Hire, Baltimore MD, 2020

A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for his role in a murder-for-hire conspiracy that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Juan Ross.

Daquante Thomas, 20, also known as ‘Glock,’ was sentenced on [date] by U.S. District Judge Julie R. Rubin. Thomas was found guilty of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death.

According to court documents, Thomas was hired by a co-conspirator to kill Ross, who was cooperating with law enforcement at the time. Thomas and another conspirator drove to the area where Ross was located and shot and killed him on October 4, 2020.

Thomas admitted to accepting payment to commit the murder and was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron praised the successful partnership between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in bringing Thomas to justice. ‘This case is a tragedy for the victim and the affected families,’ Barron said. ‘I am hopeful that our reenergized law enforcement and community partnerships will help break this cycle of violence.’

Thomas’s co-defendants, Jourdain Larose and Tyrik Braxton, are charged with a federal murder-for-hire conspiracy and remain detained while awaiting their trial.

The case was made possible by investigative leads generated from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN).
