Dario Pineda Garcia, Illegal Reentry of a Deported Alien, Massachusetts 2017

BOSTON – A disturbing trend of repeated crime continues to plague the nation, with the latest case unfolding in Massachusetts.

Dario Pineda Garcia, 49, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani to 11 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and will be subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence.

The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry of a deported alien, a federal crime that carries severe penalties. According to the prosecution, Pineda Garcia had previously been deported in April 2007 and made the mistake of returning to the United States.

Law enforcement encountered Pineda Garcia in Chelsea in November 2016, and it was then that they determined him to be unlawfully present in the country.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of Weinreb’s Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case, working closely with Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb and Matthew Etre, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Boston.

Pineda Garcia’s sentence is a stern reminder of the consequences of violating U.S. immigration laws. His case serves as a warning to those who would attempt to circumvent the system and puts a spotlight on the need for stricter enforcement.

The sentence handed down to Pineda Garcia reflects the gravity of his crime and the importance of upholding the nation’s immigration laws.
