A former convict, Darius Brown, 35, from Los Angeles, is headed to the slammer after being sentenced for carrying a gun in a mall and firing shots in a neighborhood.
According to the DOJ USAO, Brown was caught with a gun at a Savannah mall and was previously convicted of multiple felonies, including being an armed career criminal. This time around, he’s facing serious prison time.
Brown was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for carrying a firearm in a school zone and 5 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Another defendant, Brandon Lee, 28, from San Diego, also got hit with a lengthy sentence for firing shots in a neighborhood. He was sentenced to 7 years in federal prison for discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
The sentencing was carried out in federal court, with both defendants facing significant time behind bars. Brown’s previous convictions include armed robbery and burglary, while Lee’s past offenses included assault with a deadly weapon.
The cases highlight the ongoing issue of gun violence in California and the consequences faced by those who commit these crimes. The DOJ USAO is committed to keeping the public safe and holding accountable those who break the law.
