A Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for distributing cocaine, the Grimy Times has learned.
Darrain D. Bowdry, 30, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, was sentenced on January 26, 2016, to federal prison on cocaine related charges, James L. Porter, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today.
Bowdry had previously pleaded guilty to two counts in a federal indictment. Count 1 charged that on November 4, 2014, at approximately 2:36 p.m., Bowdry knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine. Count 2 charged that on November 4, 2014, at approximately 4:05 p.m., Bowdry knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Joint Narcotics Unit of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood.
Bowdry will also serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment and must pay a fine of $400.
According to court documents, the charges against Bowdry stem from two separate incidents on November 4, 2014, in which he allegedly distributed cocaine.
Darrain D. Bowdry is a 30-year-old man from Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and will be serving his sentence in federal prison.
