A Charles City man has been convicted of a firearm offense after pleading guilty in federal court in Cedar Rapids.

Dashaune Terrell Burns-Johnson, a 31-year-old resident of Charles City, Iowa, was found guilty of one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

The crime occurred on May 22, 2024, in Charles City when Burns-Johnson knowingly possessed a Taurus G3c, 9×19 mm pistol. At the time, he knew that he had been convicted of a felony, domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, second offense, and that he had been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, specifically, domestic abuse assault.
