A grim verdict was handed down in U.S. District Court, as Davian Wilson, a/k/a ‘Chaba’, 22, of Choctaw, Mississippi, was found guilty of second degree murder in connection with a deadly assault on the Choctaw Indian Reservation near Philadelphia, Mississippi.
According to evidence presented during the four-day trial, Wilson and his co-defendant, James Bell, Jr., brutally attacked the victim, stabbing him over 50 times, ultimately resulting in the victim’s death.
As the trial revealed, the attack was a direct result of a prior altercation between Wilson and the victim. Following the altercation, Wilson allegedly sought assistance from several individuals to locate and assault the victim.
The gruesome crime took place in the Pearl River community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation, leaving the victim’s family and community reeling.
Wilson, who faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine, will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan on March 6, 2017.
Co-defendant James Bell, Jr. has already pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patrick Lemon and Jennifer Case, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Choctaw Police Department leading the investigation.
