A Hoover man has been accused of three brazen bank robberies that shook the communities of Shelby, Jefferson, and Tuscaloosa counties in 2017.
DAVID ALAN LAWLEY, 34, has been indicted for the January 30 bank robbery at the Chelsea branch of APCO Employees Credit Union in Shelby County, the March 31 robbery at the Leeds branch of Covenant Bank in Jefferson County, and the April 13 robbery of the Northport branch of BB&T in Tuscaloosa County.
The maximum penalty for bank robbery is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to the indictment, the FBI investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney William G. Simpson is prosecuting.
An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The residents of these communities can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that justice is being served. The FBI is commended for their diligent work in bringing this case to light.
