A Greeneville man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
David Allen Cutshall, 31, was sentenced by the Honorable Pamela L. Reeves, U.S. District Court Judge, on July 14, 2015.
Cutshall pleaded guilty to the charge in April 2015.
According to the plea agreement, in December 2014, a Greeneville police officer observed Cutshall walking around a vehicle sitting at a car wash off Highway 11E in Greeneville.
The officer pulled in behind the vehicle and stopped Cutshall, who was in the driver’s seat, from pulling away.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a Hi-Point, P-9 semiautomatic pistol concealed in the front of Cutshall’s pants, as well as several pills and four small bags containing methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Cutshall had previous felony convictions, including aggravated burglaries and attempting to introduce suboxone into a penal facility, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Agencies involved in the investigation included the Greeneville Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Corey Shipley and Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Reeves represented the United States.
Cutshall is currently serving his sentence in federal prison.
