David Collazo, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2021

SCRANTON, Pennsylvania – A Schuylkill County man has admitted to trafficking crystal methamphetamine in the area, according to court documents.

David Collazo, age 34, pleaded guilty on July 1, 2021, to possession with intent to distribute crystal methamphetamine in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The crime took place between December 2018 and February 2019.

Collazo admitted to possessing highly pure crystal methamphetamine for further distribution in the Schuylkill County area, according to Acting United States Attorney Bruce D. Brandler.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. O’Hara is prosecuting the case.

Judge Robert D. Mariani ordered a presentence report be completed for Collazo. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.

The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison. The maximum sentence under federal law is up to life in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.

Collazo’s sentence will be determined by the Judge, who must consider the nature, circumstances and seriousness of the offense; the history and characteristics of the defendant; and the need to punish the defendant, protect the public and provide for the defendant’s educational, vocational and medical needs.
