A 23-year-old man from Philadelphia, Mississippi, has admitted to breaking into a residence on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana.
Dejarreh La’Kean Talley, also known as ‘DJ’ Talley, pleaded guilty to burglary in a Great Falls federal court. The maximum sentence he faces is 20 years in prison, a $50,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
According to court documents, Talley kicked in the door of a Poplar residence on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation at around 5:30 a.m. on June 30, 2020. An individual at the residence reported that Talley had punched them in the face and threatened others.
Talley admitted to kicking in the door but denied having a bat, striking the individual and threatening anyone. He is currently detained pending further proceedings.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided over the case and set sentencing for December 30.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Fort Peck Law Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ethan R. Plaut is prosecuting the case.
Talley’s guilty plea marks the end of the case, and he now awaits sentencing in December.
