A Del City man is facing prison time after being convicted of arson and making threats over a cell phone, announced U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Allen James Bullock, 42, of Del City, was found guilty on two counts: interstate transmission of threatening communication and arson, after a federal jury delivered its verdict on May 21, 2024.
The fire occurred on November 14, 2023, at a nearby apartment complex in Del City. The Del City Fire Department extinguished the flames, which were contained to the entrance of the apartment. The tenant, who was not home at the time, alleged that Bullock started the fire. The victim claimed Bullock had threatened him over the phone hours before the incident.
Court records show that Bullock’s wife worked with the victim, and the victim had given a shirt to Bullock’s wife, prompting Bullock’s alleged threats. Cell phone records and surveillance footage revealed that Bullock had made multiple calls to the victim on the night of the fire and had visited a nearby gas station to purchase $.50 of gasoline just before the fire broke out.
Expert testimony confirmed that debris samples from the fire tested positive for gasoline. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, along with the Del City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stan J. West and Matthew Dillon are prosecuting the case.
Following his conviction, Bullock faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 25 years in federal prison and fines totaling up to $500,000. The case is pending further court proceedings. Reference is made to public filings for additional information.
