Demario Barker, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Indiana 2023

A notorious methamphetamine trafficker has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for his role in distributing the highly addictive substance in Indiana.

Demario Barker, 33, of Kokomo, Indiana, pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison following the guilty plea.

According to court documents, Barker’s involvement in methamphetamine trafficking activities was first investigated by law enforcement in 2019.

On June 22, 2020, and July 31, 2020, Barker distributed methamphetamine from his residence in Kokomo. A search warrant was executed at Barker’s residence on November 30, 2020, where law enforcement officers seized approximately one pound of methamphetamine, as well as seven firearms.

Zachary A. Myers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, Michael Gannon, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Indianapolis Field Office, and Kokomo Police Chief Douglas Stout made the announcement regarding Barker’s sentencing.

Demario Barker’s 25-year prison sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker. As part of the sentence, Judge Barker ordered that Barker be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for five years following his release from federal prison.

U.S. Attorney Myers thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Brady for her efforts in prosecuting the case.
