South Bronx Drug Trafficking Ring Busted, 21 Charged

In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses, 21 members of a Bronx-based drug trafficking organization were charged in two separate indictments.

The organization, which operates in the vicinity of the Diego Beekman Houses in the South Bronx, is affiliated with the Bloods Street Gang, specifically the ‘Low Rider Brims’ and ‘Young Shooters’ subsets.

Of the 21 defendants charged, 14 are currently in custody, including 12 defendants who were arrested earlier today and yesterday as part of a coordinated takedown.

Law enforcement agents executed search warrants at three locations, recovering crack, cocaine, marijuana, ammunition, and gang paperwork. To date, agents have seized quantities of crack, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, prescription pills, firearms, ammunition, and knives.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara stated, ‘As alleged, these defendants terrorized a South Bronx neighborhood with their drug dealing and violence. Law enforcement has no duty more important than keeping our citizens safe.’
