Threats Against a Federal Facility Land Buffalo Man in Prison
Demont Coston, 56, of Buffalo, NY, has been sentenced to time served for threatening to blow up the local VA facility.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Coston made repeated threats against the Buffalo VA via phone calls and texts to the U.S. Veterans Affairs Crisis Line on September 12 and 14, 2023.
Coston’s threatening statements included saying ‘I should go blow… I should go burn the building down’ and ‘Taking out all V.A. facilities, but I have 1 n mind first.’
He also told the Crisis Line that he was in Washington D.C., near the main VA facility, and that he knew where to hit them.
The investigation into Coston’s threats was conducted by the VA Medical Center Police and the VA Office of Inspector General’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew J. Henning handled the case, which resulted in Coston being sentenced to time served by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Romer.
