Between August and October of 2015, Boyle distributed and received depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to court documents. The investigation, led by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), revealed that Boyle had been engaging in online chats with girls aged 14 to 18. Boyle’s friend reported the solicitation to authorities and assisted in the investigation by recording a meeting with Boyle, who admitted to viewing, downloading, and distributing child pornography, officials said.
Boyle was charged with distributing child pornography and obstruction of justice. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
