A man from Alabama has been sentenced to prison for failing to register as a sex offender. Dennis James Harper Jr., 51, of Pine Hill, Alabama, was handed down a year and a day in prison for the crime.
Harper was required to register as a sex offender due to a 1997 conviction for Sexual Abuse, First Degree from Coffee County. Despite this, Harper never notified Alabama authorities of his new location in Massachusetts, where he moved four days after his last registration in 2012.
The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Dominic Rossetti.
Harper will also be under five years of supervision by the United States Probation Office once he is released from custody.
