Deported Alien Sentenced for Reentry

PITTSBURGH – In a shocking case of disregard for immigration laws, Hector Cardenas-Orozco, a 37-year-old resident of Michocan, Mexico, has been sentenced to time served for illegally reentering the United States.

According to court documents, Cardenas-Orozco was deported and removed from the country on August 18, 2000, but was found in the US on March 25, 2014, without having received permission to reenter from either the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

Cardenas-Orozco pleaded guilty to a single count of reentry of removed alien and was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond.

The investigation into Cardenas-Orozco’s activities was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security, and Assistant United States Attorney Leo M. Dillon is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
