Derius Raoule Green, Illegally Possessing Firearms, Georgia 2021
A Bainbridge, Georgia resident with a history of crime has pleaded guilty to possessing firearms illegally, following an arrest during a death investigation in South Georgia.
Derius Raoule Green, 32, of Bainbridge, Georgia, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon before U.S. District Judge Leslie A. Gardner. Green faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a maximum $250,000 fine.
Green was arrested in Port Saint Joe, Florida on September 2, 2021, after Deputies from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office found a deceased male with two gunshot wounds on August 30, 2021. The victim may have been in a recent feud with Green, who was wanted on three outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
A search warrant executed at Green’s property found a shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, and ammunition, which is a clear violation of federal and state laws prohibiting convicted felons from possessing firearms.
Green’s history of crime includes prior felony convictions for interference with government property, reckless conduct, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in Decatur County, Georgia, Superior Court.
The case was investigated by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Redavid is prosecuting the case for the government.
