BANGOR, Maine – In a stunning turn of events in the war on drugs, Donald Vigue, 42, of Dexter, Maine, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute cocaine. The plea was entered today in U.S. District Court.
According to court records, Vigue’s involvement spanned several years within a conspiracy led by Roger Belanger and his daughter Kelli Mujo. This operation, which thrived between January 2002 and November 2014, funneled cocaine from Rhode Island into the Dexter area. Vigue is now the ninth individual to admit guilt in this ongoing investigation.
Belanger and Mujo were both convicted on August 19, 2016, following a jury trial. The conviction marked a significant victory for law enforcement agencies involved in dismantling the drug network.
The defendant, Vigue, faces a formidable sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a $1,000,000 fine, and a supervised release term ranging from three years to life. His sentencing will be determined after completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
This case has been meticulously investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, with invaluable support from the Dexter Police Department, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, and the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office.
