A 37-year-old man from Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, authorities announced.
Dexter Hall, 37, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced November 7, 2022, in federal court in Omaha for the crime.
United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher handed down the sentence. In the federal system, there is no parole. Once Hall is released from prison, he will begin a 2-year term of supervised release.
The investigation revealed that on February 8, 2023, Hall entered a pawn shop in Lincoln, Nebraska, and sold a box containing ten rounds of Hornady .50-caliber ammunition for $30.
Hall has been previously convicted of non-violent felony offenses, namely possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to prosecutors.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced the sentencing, stating that Hall’s actions put the community at risk.
The sentence sends a clear message that those who break the law will face serious consequences, Lehr said in a statement.
Hall’s case serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing laws related to firearms and ammunition possession.
