A convicted killer in Arizona has been given a lengthy prison sentence for his role in a deadly fire that killed a woman in 2020.
Dion James Anagal, 44, of Chinle, Arizona, was sentenced last week to 22 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for second-degree murder in the death of the victim.
The fire, which occurred on December 6, 2020, was set by Anagal while the victim was still inside her home on the Navajo Nation, where Anagal is an enrolled member.
The crime was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alexander Samuels and Jillian Besancon handled the prosecution.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of violent crime and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.
