According to court documents, Marks was identified as the individual who had sexually abused a 9-year-old minor in the Lowe’s parking lot, forcing the child to engage in sexual activity.

The FBI investigation also uncovered that Marks had molested multiple minors, including a child as young as 5 years old. The case was investigated by the Roswell Resident Agency and Albuquerque Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Jospeh Crutcher, 59, of Carlsbad, faces 70 years in prison for his involvement in the production, distribution, and possession of child pornography. As part of his sentence, he will also be required to register as a sex offender.

The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

As part of his sentence, Marks will be subject to a lifetime term of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender. The case serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child sex crimes and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
